APOCALYPTICA To Tour With The "Avanti" Classical Orchestra - Details Available!

Finland's music revolutionaries Apocalyptica will once again present a novelty – for the first time in the band’s history, the globally successful cello rockers are going on tour with a classical orchestra. The ambitious production with the prestigious Finnish “Avanti! Orchestra” will premier in March of 2014.

Apocalyptica have played over 1,000 concerts in more than 50 countries, released 7 studio albums and worked with renowned artists like Corey Taylor (Slipknot), Gavin Rossdale (Bush), Dave Lombardo (Slayer), Ville Valo (HIM), and Till Lindemann (Rammstein), just to mention a few. The university graduate musicians, whose signature feature is to constantly explore uncharted territory, started to blend rock and metal with classical music in the early nineties, celebrating worldwide success until today.

In 2014, Apocalyptica will go on tour with a classical orchestra for the first time in their career. The collaboration with the Finnish “Avanti! Orchestra” is a long-cherished project, premiering in Finland live next March. The set will solely consist of instrumentally performed Apocalyptica songs, especially arranged for the band and the 25-piece orchestra. Following shows in Finland, the tour will proceed to Russia, Germany, Poland, Belarus and the Baltic states. Tarja Turunen: NEW Album Title Release Date Announced!

The very talented Tarja Turunen has announced that her 3rd solo album is called 'Colours In The Dark' and will be out on August 23 via earMUSIC, the Hamburg, Germany-based international rock label which is part of Edel Group.

Despite her light and shiny personality, Tarja's music has always been dressed "in black" — the color of heavy rock, of mystery and elegance.

With Tarja's new album, fans will find out what happens when a splice of color is added to the mix. Or — better said — when the full-color spectrum enters the picture it does not cover the black but makes it shine through with many emotions and landscapes.

Tarja Turunen: Reveals More Details About Her 3rd Solo Album!

Tarja Soile Susanna Turunen Cabuli, or simply Tarja, possesses one of the most unique voices in all of music. You obviously know her for the amazing work she did with NIGHTWISH, but she has clearly moved passed the shadow of the band that made a big mistake when they decided to fire her via a letter.

Tarja has announced that she will be working once again with Dirk Rudolph on the artwork for her new solo album. As she told us during a recent interview (listen below), the album will be out this Summer via earMUSIC.

"You can expect, as before, beautiful photos, maybe more shocking this time". The record was mixed in Austin, Texas with producer Tim Palmer (PEARL JAM, U2). Here are some of the song titles:

- "Lucid Dreamer"
- "Neverlight"
- "500 Letters"
- "Never Enough"

A lyric video for the song "Never Enough" was recently filmed in Zlin, Czech Republic and will make its online debut soon. Tarja says: "I didn't want to make a traditional, boring lyric video for the song, so I am going to appear on the video not just the lyrics of the song…. This video is not what we can call the official first music video from my new album, but just an improved version of a lyric video. The filming took only couple hours with Martin, who worked also on directing my first solo live rock DVD, 'Act I'".

Philip "The Kid" Anselmo Offers Advice For Artists On The Rise!

If there is a man in Heavy Music that has seen it all, done it all, tasted it all... that man is Philip H. Anselmo from PANTERA, DOWN, SUPERJOINT RITUAL, etc. He recently sat down with FUSE and offered great advice for upcoming musicians!



So to sum up what Anselmo said above, follow all or at least some of the following steps in order to succeed:

- Rip off 20 to 30 bands whose music you identify with in order to find an original sound.
- Play as many gigs as you can in order to master your craft and connect with the audience.
- Gig for nearly nothing in return in order to pay your dues.
- Connect with your fans via the Internet.

While this obviously pissed Tarja off, today she sees it as a blessing in disguise. Following her departure from NIGHTWISH, she began her solo career and has never looked back. 2013 is smiling at Tarja, who became a mother last year, and has completed the recording sessions for her third solo studio album. Instead of us telling you about the progress of the album, we decided to give Tarja a call and get an update directly from. ENSIFERUM announce NEW label home & begin working on another album

Finland's ENSIFERUM have spent the past 18 years honing the steel of their folk-infused battle Metal auditory attack. Their albums are further bolstered by a live show that has become one of the most entertaining in all of Metal. Proof of ENSIFERUM's status as one of the most vital bands in modern Metal was made apparent through their headlining slot on this year's Paganfest USA tour. The band inked the deal with Metal Blade CEO Brian Slagel during the Paganfest USA tour, and all parties are enthusiastic about NEW music and NEW possibilities.

The next full length album should be out in early 2015. We have already started working with the NEW songs and it's obvious that the next album will be another step ahead for Ensiferum. Phil Anselmo: Record Store Day & The Comeback Of Vinyl Records; DOWN's US Tour Begins Soon!

Earlier this week, Forbes Magazine (Forbes.com) posted an in-depth piece on the comeback of vinyl and Record Store Day, written by Tim Clark. In a time where people are quick to label the current state of the music industry as "failing" or "experiencing a downfall", Tim Clark points out that the independent record store experience illustrates otherwise.

Ex-Pantera and current DOWN vocalist and Housecore Records CEO Philip H. Anselmo was interviewed for the piece, and gave his personal thoughts on the rise in record store activity and how it supports growth in the music business and community. As one of the leading voices of the recent indie label and independent music takeover, Forbes looked to Anselmo has a voice of authority.

From Forbes piece: "When he was younger, Anselmo used to constantly scour underground record stores and to this day still believes in the vinyl format."

"Record Store Day promotes this type of passion of having the actual product in your hand instead of just a download", said Anselmo. "I love having the full album, art, lyrics and I think vinyl sounds better. And as a label owner, it makes me happy to see that people slowly but surely want to have this tangible copy in their hands instead of a free [expletive] download, which is driving me [expletive] bananas."

Record Store Day is now celebrated on the third Saturday every April is the one day that all of the independently owned record stores come together with artists to celebrate the art of music. Which means that Record Store Day is TOMORROW! Forbes calls Record Store Day, "an industry phenomenon".

DOWN Are Ready To Take Over South America, The U.S. & Europe!

NOLA super group DOWN, are traveling to South America as we type this. Beginning on April 10, the band will be spreading their newest sonic assault to fans from Brazil, Argentina and Chile! Following their South American takeover, on May 23 the band will kick off their U.S. tour in Birmingham, Alabama.The band recently wrapped up the first leg of their European tour and have now announced the second leg of their U.S. tour. Finland's Heavy Metal machines CHILDREN OF BODOM are currently tracking their ninth studio album, the follow up to 2011's 'Relentless Reckless Forever', at Danger Johnny Studios in Helsinki, Finland.

For the recording process the band has teamed up with recording engineer Mikko Karmila, who also produced the bands 'Hatebreeder', 'Follow The Reaper' and 'Hate Crew Deathroll'. Additionally, Swedish producer Peter Tägtgren (MARDUK, AMON AMARTH) is overseeing production of both vocals and keyboards on the record. The album will be mixed at Finnvox Studios in Helsinki for a summer release via Nuclear Blast Records.

CHILDREN OF BODOM Enter Danger Johnny Studios In Helsinki, Finland

Finland's Heavy Metal machines CHILDREN OF BODOM have entered Danger Johnny Studios in Helsinki, Finland to track tracking their ninth studio album, the follow up to 2011's 'Relentless Reckless Forever'.

For the recording process the band has teamed up with recording engineer Mikko Karmila, who also produced the bands 'Hatebreeder', 'Follow The Reaper' and 'Hate Crew Deathroll'. Additionally, Swedish producer Peter Tägtgren (MARDUK, AMON AMARTH) is overseeing production of both vocals and keyboards on the record. "It's a nice change to the regular method where we lock ourselves up at a studio in the middle of the woods, usually also during the darkest time of the year," commented CHILDREN OF BODOM guitarist/vocalist Alexi Laiho who is currently finishing up lyrics for the songs. In early February, Tägtgren will travel to Finland to oversee the keyboard and vocal recordings for his longtime allies.

"Last night I finished my parts for the record," added CHILDREN OF BODOM bassist Henkka Seppälä. "We listened to all the songs and fixed what had to be fixed. So the bass tracks are locked in and so are the basic tracks for guitars, from both Roope and Alexi. And, of course, all drums were recorded first. Next in line are the guitar melodies and solos and then the keyboards and vocals. We are ahead of schedule and very happy to work here in Helsinki for the first time ever."

Unfortunately, this year we have to sacrifice a couple of festivals in Europe in order to be able to be part of a big tour in USA. These are not easy nor nice decisions. "Today we had the last rehearsals before entering the studio tomorrow to record drums for the new album.

"Last two days have been quite intensive. Playing the songs over and over again, lots of fuck ups and broken drum sticks, sweating, frustration, coffee and what have you, a little bit of arranging and all that shit.

"I am convinced that the new songs are great. A little bit of black metal, heavy metal, metal, old school death metal, melodies, solos and anything you need to make a nice album. And the most important, new ideas à la COB!

DOWN: Update On 2013 Live Takeovers!

NOLA super group DOWN, are back in black (or in purple) spreading their newest sonic assault to thousands of ear buds all over the world! The band recently wrapped up the first leg of their European tour and have now announced the second leg of their U.S. tour. They have also announced that they are returning to South America! It seems like the band is focusing on cutting back the amount of tour dates per trek, so that they can be extremely focused on their musical craft.

With that said, DOWN is going to be tearing through the U.S. in January 2013 in support of 'Down IV Part I: The Purple EP'. Warbeast, who are part of Philip Anselmo's label Housecore Records, will offer support on the tour. As previously reported HERE, Anselmo and Warbeast are working on a collab album titled 'War Of The Gargantuas'. This album is set for a January 8th release. So its safe to assume that some of those songs will be performed during this tour.

Then the band will head down to South America and perform in Brazil, Argentina and Chile! Additionally, the band will be part of the 2013 "Maryland Death Fest" in May! In June, the band will be part of Provinssirock in Seinäjoki, Finland.

WOW! KING DIAMOND, BOLT THROWER, TESTAMENT and CHILDREN OF BODOM have all been confirmed next year's Tuska festival! Finland's Heavy Metal fest will take place between June 28-30 in Suvilahti, Helsinki, Finland.







Before you keep reading! Lets take a moment to thank god (or satan) that the KING is alive and well and playing shows again!







In the past years, the attendees of Tuska festival have complained about Tuska (the area were the festival takes place), so the the area will undergo changes and improvements in order to enhance the atmosphere and functionality. Details will be announced later.

A limited edition of special prized three-day Tuska tickets will go on sale tomorrow, Friday October 5 through Tiketti.fi and Lippupalvelu.fi for 110 euros (plus ticket agency fee).

Start date of regular 2013 ticket sales, ticket price and ticket categories will be announced later.

As previously reported, Alexi Laiho was rushed to the Oslo hospital on the evening of Tuesday, July 3rd with extreme stomach pain. As a result, Children Of Bodom were forced to cancel their appearance at the Ruisrock festival.

Thankfully, Laiho is now fully recovered and in order to let his fans know this, he recorded the following video.

Statement Released By CHILDREN OF BODOM Regarding The Health Scare Of Alexi Laiho!

As previously reported, Alexi Laiho was rushed to the Oslo hospital on the evening of Tuesday, July 3rd with extreme stomach pain. As a result, Children Of Bodom were forced to cancel their appearance at the Ruisrock festival

Today, there is good news from COB camp:

"We are happy to announce that Alexi will be leaving the hospital in Oslo tomorrow, Thursday, 12th of July, and are also glad to confirm that the band will be able to play Ilosaarirock Festival. The Hate Crew is rolling again! More info shortly…"

CHILDREN OF BODOM Forced To Cancel Appearance At RUISROCK Fest Due To Alexi Laiho's "Serious Infection" - Official Statement Available!

As previously reported, Alexi Laiho was rushed to the Oslo hospital on the evening of Tuesday, July 3rd with extreme stomach pain. The doctors in the emergency unit checked him and made it clear that he will not be able to perform until further notice.

As a result, Children Of Bodom has been forced to cancel their appearance at the Ruisrock festival. The band comments:

“This is not an easy letter for us to write. Alexi is suffering from a serious infection. He is still in hospital in Oslo under supervision of the doctors and we don’t know yet when they will release him.

"We have no choice other than canceling Ruisrock in Turku on Saturday as well. This is a very bitter pill for us to swallow. We had decided to do only two festivals in our homeland this summer to make it real special, and now this.

"We hope that we will be able to make up for this very soon. To all our fans who had been looking forward to rock with us at Ruisrock this weekend, take our apologies and enjoy the festival. In our spirits, we will be there, too.”

CHILDREN OF BODOM's Alexi Laiho Rushed To A Hospital Due To An Extreme Medical Emergency - Official Statement Available!

CHILDREN OF BODOM have released the following statement regarding the health of their frontman Alexi Laiho:

"It is with great regret that we are forced to cancel tonight's show in Oslo [Norway] as well as tomorrow night's show in Malmö [Sweden].

"Alexi [Laiho, guitar/vocals] was rushed to the Oslo hospital earlier this evening with extreme stomach pain. The doctors in the emergency unit checked him and while we are still waiting for a diagnosis, they made clear that he will not be able to perform within the next 48 hours.

"We apologize to all our fans who have bought tickets to these shows — we will try to reschedule both Oslo and Malmö at the earliest possibility. Keep your fingers crossed with us that Alexi will get well again soon!"

CHILDREN OF BODOM Ink Record Deal With Nuclear Blast Records - Official Statement From Alexi Laiho Available!

CHILDREN OF BODOM (also known as COB) have inked a worldwide recording deal (excluding Japan) with Nuclear Blast Records. The celebrated Metal label -- who worked with the band over the early stages of its career -- is proud to announce the renewed partnership with the world famous band. COB, who kicked off a year long celebration of its 15th anniversary with a successful North American tour alongside label mates ELUVEITIE, have a NEW studio album planned for release in 2013.

"We had a good, productive and long run with Spinefarm Records for fifteen years and now it’s simply just time for a change," said CHILDREN OF BODOM frontman/guitarist Alexi "Wildchild" Laiho. "I’m absolutely stoked to start the NEW chapter of COB's career with Nuclear Blast and look forward to working with them."
