MEGADETH Announce NEW Album Title; Dave Mustaine Launches His Own Label!

Thrash Metallers MEGADETH are currently locked up at Vic's Garage studio in San Marcos, California, recording the follow up to 2011's 'THIRT3EN' (available now via Roadrunner Records). The bands 14th studio album is being produced by Johnny K. The band has released the following statement regarding the name of their NEW album, the release month, and their NEW label home:

For a Heavy Metal band that's been around for nearly three decades, selling more than 38 million albums worldwide, earning numerous accolades including 11 Grammy® nominations, scoring five consecutive platinum albums-including 1992's two-million-selling 'Countdown to Extinction' - Megadeth's founder, leader and primal guitar-slinger and lyricist Dave Mustaine feels the best is yet to come, especially after signing an exclusive worldwide deal with Universal Music Enterprises.

NEW L
ABEL HOME:

Dave Mustaine brings legendary Thrash-Metal pioneers to his own label called Tradecraft who has united
with Universal for the first time with his multi-platinum Capitol/EMI catalog.

NEW ALBUM TITLE & RELEASE DATE:

Currently working in their studio in San Diego on their 14th studio album titled 'Super Collider', Mustaine, along with bassist Dave Ellefson, drummer Shawn Drover and guitarist Chris Broderick, are looking forward to its release in June 2013

Megadeth's 'Super Collider' is the first release through Mustaine's new label, Tradecraft, through UMe.

"It was a real thrill for us to learn there was an opportunity to join Universal," said Mustaine during a break in the sessions. "It seems like every time you see a great band or music video, it comes from the Universal label. Being with Universal is by far the most exciting and prestigious home for Megadeth ever! We are electrified with what the future holds and the possibilities such a powerhouse like Uni will bring for us all. We have worked with some great people over the years, and it is amazing to see so many of them on the Universal team for our new record, 'Super Collider'. If Megadeth being here isn't satiating enough, having Tradecraft as my own label is going to be really amazing for metal bands around the world."

With a NEW found energy with the band, Mustaine is raring to go, preparing for his latest tour, marking the 20th anniversary of their best-selling 'Countdown to Extinction' album. Mustaine added, "Shawn, Chris and David have all been feverishly contributing some great music and I believe we are doing our best work ever together in the studio right now!"

"Megadeth is not just one of the most successful Metal bands, but one of the most influential Rock bands of the past 30 years," said UMe President/CEO Bruce Resnikoff in making the announcement. "They continue to be a huge draw on the road with their longtime fans as well as continually adding new fans. I look forward to working together with them."

Mustaine formed Megadeth in Los Angeles in 1983, and with a string of five consecutive platinum and multi-platinum albums Megadeth became one of the biggest bands of the mid-'80s and '90s, boasting such arena anthems as "Symphony of Destruction," "Peace Sells, But Who's Buying," "Holy Wars," and "Sweating Bullets," along with the top singles in 1997/98 off Cryptic Writings, "Trust," (No. 1 track) "Almost Honest," "Use The Man" and "A Secret Place."

With the recent acquisition of EMI, UMe now brings together Megadeth's classic, 14-year, seven-album Capitol catalog, which includes one multi-platinum release ('92's Countdown to Extinction), four platinum records ('86's Peace Sells... But Who's Buying?; '88's So Far, So Good... So What?; '90's Rust in Peace; '94's Youthanasia), and one gold ('97's Cryptic Writings). In all, the band has scored five Top 10 albums (including 2007's United Abominations and 2009's Endgame) and two Top 5 releases, with 2011’s TH1RT3EN debuting at No.11 on the Billboard Top 200 and No.1 on the Billboard Hard Rock Albums chart.

MEGADETH: Dave Mustaine Discusses NEW Album & What Fans Can Expect!

Thrash Metallers MEGADETH have been locked up at Vic's Garage studio in San Marcos, California, recording the follow up to 2011's 'THIRT3EN' (available now via Roadrunner Records). The bands 14th studio album is being produced by Johnny K, and will be released sometime this year through a NEW label home since the band parted ways with Roadrunner Records. MEGADETH released three studio albums through Roadrunner: 2007's 'United Abominations', 2009's 'Engame' and the aforementioned 'TH1RT3EN'.

During NAMM, which concluded this past Sunday (January 27), MEGADETH's own Dave Mustaine chatted with Full Metal Jackie during the "Dean NAMM Webcast" about the NEW future of MEGADETH. Mustaine also presented some of his NEW guitars and he also signed some of them, watch the video below.

A few excerpts of the interview folllow:

"We're actually in the studio right now working on a new record," Mustaine said during the chat. "We have a new label. We left Roadrunner; we completed our contract with them, which not a lot of many Metal bands have the luxury to have been able to complete contracts. They usually either break up or quit or give up and stuff like that, but we were honorable and finished our contract with them and we moved on. And we've actually got a fantastic relationship with a brand NEW label that we're gonna be telling everybody about real soon. We have eleven songs already recorded. We wanna give them thirteen, 'cause, you know, the B-sides and Japanese releases and all that kind of crazy stuff. So we're almost done with all of that stuff. I'm excited about the music."

He continued: "[MEGADETH bassist] David Ellefson is one of those guys that's kind of the barometer of the band. You ask me, you never really know what you're gonna get, but when you ask David Ellefson, it's kind of like reading the ingredients on the back of something, 'cause he's such a straight shooter. He told some people the other day that this is music that's really similar to [MEGADETH's 1985 debut album] 'Killing Is My Business... and Business Is Good!', some of the stuff — really dark, really heavy and fast stuff. I mean, I don't think it's really as fast and heavy as 'Killing' is, to me, but Junior is a great, like I said, barometer — bad word, but he knows what's going on.

"The relationship in the band right now, we're all getting along great; everybody is having a great time. Chris Broderick, what a great guitar player. Shawn Drover is playing his butt off, and Dave and I are getting along great right now. We're excited.

"We're gonna be debuting the name of the record soon. We've been giving little clips of some of the music on our web site and on Dean's web site.

"It's just a great time to be in MEGADETH."

Video Of Dave Mustaine VS Anderson Cooper!

Recently, MEGADETH's Dave Mustaine lashed out at Mens Wearhouse after they didn’t deliver a gift card for Mustaine‘s tour manager within the two-day period it "guaranteed", causing the outspoken musician to make the following post:

"I really think that it sucks when people make false claims, that they don’t care to make good on a problem that is clearly their fault, and with all of the ‘ABSOLUTELY GUARANTEE IT. I for one, will never set foot in a Men’s Wearhouse, even for shelter from a blizzard. I absolutely GUARANTEE it."

Yesterday night (January 8), Anderson Cooper weighed in on the matter by including Mustaine on "The Ridiculist" (a segment from the CNN TV show "Anderson Cooper 360").

MEGADETH are currently locked up at Vic's Garage studio in San Marcos, California, recording the follow up to 2011's 'THIRT3EN' (available now via Roadrunner Records). The bands 14th studio album is being produced by Johnny K on a NEW record, and will be released sometime this year through a NEW label home since the band parted ways with Roadrunner Records. Watch Dave Mustaine & Chris Broderick Recording Tracks For MEGADETH's NEW Album!

MEGADETH are currently locked up at Vic's Garage studio in San Marcos, California, recording the follow up to 2011's 'THIRT3EN' (available now via Roadrunner Records). Read more about this below.

Here is video footage of Dave Mustaine and Chris Broderick recording guitar tracks in late December of 2012.

In 2009, Mustaine blasted Roadrunner in an online post, writing, "Kudos, Roadrunner, the is the first worldwide critically acclaimed record by the press, and the fans, and you just can't seem to get this right. This is the first time that everyone likes a record of mine, and you can't get us on the radio or into the stores.

"I can't tell you how many stores I go into while on tour and I see nothing. And all I hear from [Roadrunner] is, 'We are committed to the record.'

"My ass."

A year later, Mustaine wrote, "We're getting ready to start the next MEGADETH record in January and the funny thing is my manager is telling me now how Roadrunner is going out of their way now to try and give me this new huge deal, and I just don't want it. I don't want it. The treatment's been terrible over the years, and I just don't want it. I would rather retire than continue to play like that. Either we're gonna release digitally or [see] what happens next. We've got this last record [that we owe to] Roadrunner [as part of our current contract]; it's gonna be a great record 'cause the songs are really, really good. 'Cause I don't want my side of the bargain to be tainted — I wanna be a gentleman and be respectful and deliver my side of the deal, whether or not the other party has or not."
