Joey Jordison Talks About His NEW Project With Members Of NINE INCH NAILS, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD & DARKEST HOUR!

As previously reported, the multi-talented Joey Jordison from SLIPKNOT/MURDERDOLLS (ex-Rob Zombie) has made it very clear that he is not willing to wait around until Corey Taylor is ready to work on the NEW SLIPKNOT album. He has actually been real busy working on his as of yet untitled NEW musical project.

Jordison recently chatted with Metal Hammer about his project with
Jed Simon (STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, TENET, ZIMMER'S HOLE) and Kris Norris (DARKEST HOUR) on guitar. Here is what he had to say about his next musical venture:

“I’d been working on new Slipknot material since the end of the 'All Hope Is Gone' tour cycle but I ended up with so much stuff I had to take a step back and stop working on it,” he explains. “The time wasn’t right. But I came up with a bunch of material that was really killer and heavy and started taking some of it in a different direction. I started focusing on a lot of the post-Punk and industrial stuff that I’ve always loved and started putting super heavy and brutal guitars over the top of it. That’s how it started. It’s taken me a couple of years to get to this point, but I can honestly say this is the most satisfied I’ve ever been in the studio. I can’t wait for everyone to hear this shit.

“I’ve done the bulk of the work in the studio but now I’ve got Jed [Simon, Strapping Young Lad] and Kris [Norris, Darkest Hour] to play lead guitar on everything,” he adds. “Chris [Vrenna, Nine Inch Nails] is doing the keyboards and synths and all that stuff and I have an unknown guy on vocals. His name’s Henry and he’s super talented and a great vocalist. I didn’t want someone from a known band singing in this band, because then it just becomes some supergroup thing and that’s not what this is.”

Don't forget that SLIPKNOT will be headlining the Download Festival on Friday 14 June 2013, marking the band’s second headline appearance following an explosive set in 2009. They join fellow headliners Iron Maiden on Saturday 15 June and Rammstein on Sunday 16 June.

Joey Jordison is not holding his breath for a NEW SLIPKNOT album & starts NEW project

The multi-talented Joey Jordison from SLIPKNOT/MURDERDOLLS (ex-Rob Zombie) has made it very clear that he is not willing to wait around until Corey Taylor is ready to work on the NEW SLIPKNOT album. Jordison has posted several photos from the studio where he is currently working on a "new project."

More details about the band, which apparently features Jed Simon (STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, TENET, ZIMMER'S HOLE) and Kris Norris (DARKEST HOUR) on guitar, will be made available "soon," according to Jordison.

While we totally understand that it is not easy for SLIPKNOT to move on after losing their bassist Paul Gray in 2010, Taylor seems to have plenty of time to write music and to tour with STONE SOUR. So lets hope that Taylor commits to SLIPKNOT after STONE SOUR completes their current album cycle in 2015.
Here is Taylor's latest update:
"We're doing five shows this year, all overseas. But it's still not time yet. There's a lot of people in the band getting healthy and trying to stay healthy and I think by getting together and doing this handful of shows, that will encourage them, and that's important.

"It takes a long time to pull yourself out of where we were. We were all in really bad shape and really dark places and right now we just kind of realized, we don't want to be there anymore. You can visit it. You can tap into it. But you don't want to exist in it. That's not life. That's just sustaining pain. For me, I let that go a long time ago and now the rest of the guys in the band are seeing that as well.

"So, we're all just trying to be there for each other and I think we'll start working on new music by probably next year… just kind of throwing demos together, maybe start working on a new album at the end of next year or maybe 2015."

LAMB OF GOD's Randy Blythe Has Been Issued A Court Summons & Must Return To The Czech Republic For Trial!

As previously reported, the Czech Republic has officially indicted Lamb Of God singer Randy Blythe on the manslaughter charge that received international media attention earlier this year (more HERE).

The State Attorney’s Office in Prague officially indicted Blythe on manslaughter charges on Friday, Nov. 30. It is now being reported that Blythe will stand trial for the controversial charges on February 4, 2013.

"We have issued Randy Blythe with a court summons, and he is obliged to attend the hearing in person," said court spokeswoman Martina Lhotáková  [via Prague Post]. "The trial will determine the culpability of Blythe and his potential punishment."

Blythe has been adamant since he was released on bail that if he was required to return to the Czech Republic to stand trial he would do so.

He previously stated: “I want my name cleared. I have to go around the world and tour, you know. That’s what I do. I’m not going to hide here. I’m an innocent man. I’m going to go to court and see what happens.”

Additionally, Michael Posner, Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor, has issued an official statement declaring the U.S. government is “closely monitoring the progress” of vocalist Randy Blythe’s impending legal trial in the Czech Republic. More HERE!

Randy Blythe's Legal Case: The U.S. Government Gets Involved Thanks To The LAMB OF GOD Fans!

As previously reported, the Czech Republic has officially indicted Lamb Of God singer Randy Blythe on the manslaughter charge that received international media attention earlier this year (more HERE).

Thankfully, Michael Posner, Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor, has issued an official statement declaring the U.S. government is “closely monitoring the progress” of vocalist Randy Blythe’s impending legal trial in the Czech Republic. It can be read in its entirely below.

Posner’s statement is in response to the online petition at whitehouse.gov for the U.S. government to help Blythe. Posner explained that while he couldn’t discuss details of Blythe’s case, he could confirm that the U.S. government would ensure Blythe received a fair trial.

Posner’s statement reads as follows:

“We appreciate your inquiry about the case of D. Randall Blythe, who was released from detention in the Czech Republic on August 3, 2012, and returned to the United States shortly thereafter. Mr. Blythe has publicly stated his intention to return to the Czech Republic to face trial for the alleged manslaughter of a Czech man at a concert in 2010. He recently told MTV, ‘It’s the correct thing for me to do … this poor young man’s family deserves some answers.’ Pending Mr. Blythe’s trial, we cannot discuss the details of his case. We are closely monitoring the progress of his trial.

“The Department Of State noted in its 2011 Human Rights Report that in the Czech Republic, ‘The laws provide for the right to a fair trial, and the independent judiciary generally enforced this right.’ We expect that the Czech government will make all efforts to ensure a fair, transparent, and timely trial for Mr. Blythe, and guarantee full protection of his legal rights under Czech law and his welfare.

“If you would like to know more about what the Department of State does for U.S. citizens overseas, please visit our website at Travel.State.Gov. General information on U.S. human rights policy is available at HumanRights.gov.”

The State Attorney’s Office in Prague officially indicted Blythe on manslaughter charges on Friday, Nov. 30. According to Czech news source Novinky.cz, the District Court now has three months to either set a trial date or to delay the hearing in lieu of further investigation. If he is found guilty, Blythe could face 5-10 years in prison.

For now, Blythe will continue to destroy ear drums all over the U.S.! Here are the remaining tour dates:

LAMB OF GOD's Manager Responds To Randy Blythe's Indictment News!

As news breaks of Randy Blythe’s indictment on manslaughter charges in the Czech Republic (full article HERE), manager Larry Mazer responds with the following statement:

"After a three month investigation, the prosecutor in the Czech Republic has decided to move forward with an indictment of Randy Blythe on the charge of manslaughter with intent to cause bodily harm. Obviously, we intend to fight vigorously against these charges as we feel that in no way did Randy intend to cause bodily harm on the young fan who subsequently died from injuries sustained at the show. As he has stated previously, Randy intends to go to Prague to defend himself at trial.

"While it is a tragedy that a Lamb of God fan died following a performance by the group, in no way do I feel that Randy did anything improper that led to the young man’s injuries and subsequent death. The price of a ticket to a show does not entitle audience members access to a band’s stage. In the years since the murder on stage of Dimebag Darrell Abbott, performers of all genres have had to become more guarded while performing in response to the dangers presented by fans trying to become part of the performance. We believe that Randy responded professionally to the numerous amount of fans rushing the stage that day, a number of them captured on videos that have been posted on the internet. We have testimony from the venue operator that acknowledges lax security and an improper barricade being used that evening. Numerous testimonies from fans also were contradictory as to the actions of the multiple fans that tried to access the stage.

"At this point, all that the band, myself, and our lawyers can do is to present a defense and try to convince the panel of judges who will hear the case that Randy is innocent of all charges and that his name and reputation need to be cleared and that he be permitted to carry on with his life and career always mindful that a fan passed away after a Lamb of God performance."

For now, Blythe will continue to destroy ear drums all over the U.S.! Here are the remaining tour dates:

Randy Blythe: "They lost their son and that's about as bad as it gets for a human being, to lose a child"

While LAMB OF GOD is currently destroying the United States in support of their latest album 'Resolution' (available now via Epic Records & Roadrunner Records), Randy Blythe's legal nightmare is not over yet.

As previously reported, Blythe was arrested on June 28 this year at the Prague Airport on charges of causing, “bodily harm of the fourth degree, resulting in the death of a fan:” an event that allegedly took place during a Lamb Of God concert on May 24, 2010. Blythe was detained in a Czech Republic prison for thirty seven days before he was released on bail.

Blythe recently spoke to U.K.'s Metal Hammer about his legal affairs and how he is killing time while he waits to hear from the Czech Republic to see if he heas to to return to Prague in order to face trial. Here are a few excerpts of the interview, which you can read in its entirety on the October 2012 issue of the magazine.

Metal Hammer: The statement you put out was very respectful to the family involved and obviously that was important to you.

Blythe: "It was hugely important. That's the worst thing about this. Going to prison sucks, and being in prison is not fun, but what I went through and the uncertainty I face now is absolutely nothing compared to what this family is going through. They lost their son and that's about as bad as it gets for a human being, to lose a child. That's not supposed to happen. I can't claim responsibility for this because I am innocent, I believe that in my heart of hearts; if I thought I was guilty, then I wouldn't even have accepted bail. I was raised by very moral parents who said you have to face up and take responsibility for your actions. But I believe I'm innocent… I know I'm innocent."

Metal Hammer: Do you even remember the gig or was it just another show?

Blythe: "It was the first time we'd ever played in Prague so I remember that. I remember I read during the day, and I remember that gig and a lot of people being onstage. Then as soon as I got off stage, my publicist called, and told me Paul Gray [SLIPKNOT] was dead. This was right after we got off stage. All of that makes that show memorable."

Metal Hammer: You weren't aware of anyone getting hurt?

Blythe: "No, there's people that get hurt at every metal show, but it's not like we ran away after the show. We were there until late in the morning, the crew was unloading and I was sitting out in the alleyway calling people because people were blowing up my phone like, 'Is it true that Paul Gray is dead?' I was very sad and I spent a lot of time talking, but the show itself, I just remember a ton of people being onstage who should not have been onstage. We had no knowledge that anyone was hurt. But, like I said about the parents, my feelings about the justice or injustice of this has nothing to do with the reality that they are totally suffering through this. They need some answers and I feel ethically obliged, if I'm called to trial, to at least give my side of the story and explain to the best of my knowledge what happened so they can get some closure. I don't have guilt over this because I am innocent, but it feels awful inside to me, terrible. A fan of the band is dead and his family suffering. It's a very unfortunate situation and one I'd rather not have to deal with, but if you're a good human being, an adult and a responsible, compassionate human being, then you show up and do the right thing, and that's going and giving these people some answers."

Metal Hammer: What does this mean, not just for LAMB OF GOD, but for future metal shows? Clearly there wasn't enough security, but at the same time people do stage dive and it is dangerous.

Blythe: "Yeah, I had 44 stitches right in my head from a BRUTAL TRUTH show. I left the stage at Milwaukee Metalfest and split my skull open and had to go to the hospital. When you crowd surf or go into a moshpit, or somehow make it to the stage, you have to realize you can get hurt. I have the scars and the broken bones to prove it because I've been going to shows since I was a kid. If anything good comes out of this, it would be the need for trained security who are aware of what goes on at a show and the type of energy and dancing, so they're not only there to keep the band safe, but to keep the audience safe. We've seen kids coming over the barrier and we've often yelled at security. I can't put on a good show if I'm worried about my fans getting hurt. There needs to be adequate security because this stuff is dangerous! There's an inherent danger in jumping off a stage and I've done it again and again and again."

Metal Hammer: Does it make you more wary of inviting contact with the audience?

Blythe: "Well, we're at a point where, long before this show, people don't need to be getting on stage, because they run into you and can knock you off or run into the equipment and you can't play. But the whole stagediving thing is a real touchy thing and it's hard to explain to people who aren't in this. Someone will come whipping past me who's made it past security and got onstage, they run and jump, clear the barricade and I'm often like, 'Good job! That was badass!' What am I gonna do, get mad? I did the same when I was a kid! But at the same time, if you're gonna do that, you have to accept the fact that you might break your fucking neck, or someone else's. I've stagedived a lot in our career and I always back way up and make sure people see I'm coming, because I don't want to break someone's neck. This has definitely made me more wary about stagediving myself, not for my security but for everybody's. I skateboard and I've busted myself up. I could have broken my neck or killed myself, and that's a risk I take and I accept that risk because it's something I like to do. If people do this stuff, they need to realize that."

Metal Hammer: Obviously you can't plan too far ahead since you don't know if you'll be facing trial. what's next for you?

Blythe: "I don't know if I'll have to go back or not. I'm assuming I will. I'm assuming it will be in December or January, but we'll tour the States starting in October for a month or so. We have to make some money because the legal bills are exorbitant. We had to borrow that bail money and it's almost half a million dollars. None of us make the kind of money to be able to pay that off no worries. And the way we make money is by playing shows, but we can't play shows if I'm in prison. One tour already got cancelled and we had a meeting today talking about the mechanics of keeping the business running when money is just bleeding out. It's difficult, but it's better than being in prison. And I will go back. I'm a man of my word and I told the judge I would go back. As I've previously expressed, I think it's the ethical thing to do."

Metal Hammer: What's the worst-case scenario?

Blythe: "Ten years with no time off for good behavior. For my particular charge — we're saying manslaughter, but it's assault in the fourth degree with intent, resulting in the death of this young man — the sentence for that is five to 10 years with no time off. So the worst-case scenario is that get out when I'm 51, 52 years old. It's not something I really try to dwell on too much, because it's scary. I don't want to go to prison, I don't want that to happen, but the fact of the matter is it could happen. I will deal with it as it comes, that's all! can do. If you have one foot in the past and one foot in the future, you're pissing on the present. And right now, all! have is the present so I prepare myself the best I can. My band is behind me and my family's behind me and we're gonna do our best to prove my innocence. But worrying about a nebulous uncertain future, or being super-bummed out that l went to prison for 37 days does me no good."

"Clown" on Paul Gray's Doctor Over-Medicating His Former Bandmate: "Hopefully justice will be served"

Yesterday we reported that DesMoinesRegister.com is claiming that Doctor Daniel Baldi (a Des Moines physician) has been charged with eight counts of involuntary manslaughter for allegedly prescribing large amounts of narcotic painkillers to patients who later died of overdoses. One of his patients was the late great Paul Gray from SLIPKNOT!

After hearing about this shocking twist of events, SLIPKNOT's own Shawn "Clown" Crahan spoke with DesMoinesRegister.com. This is what he had to say about this NEW piece of evidence regarding the death of his former bandmate:

"None of it is going to bring back our brother Paul. This epidemic of this sort of activity is becoming more and more … evident. It truly is becoming a problem amongst people. And it trickles all the way down to the youth. And awareness needs to be brought about."

Crahan made it clear that he was referring to "not only substance abuse but the ability to acquire substances, to get chemicals and the efficiency of it."

"Hopefully justice will be served," he said.

Doctor Daniel Baldi, who helped run an Iowa Health System pain clinic, is accused of "unintentionally causing the death of Paul Gray by the commission of an act likely to cause death or serious injury, to-wit, continually [writing] high-dose prescription narcotics to a known drug addict from [December 27, 2005] until his death," according to charging documents released at the doctor's court hearing today.

The doctor's lawyer, Guy Cook, told DesMoinesRegister.com his client plans to vigorously fight the charges.

"It is unprecedented to turn unfortunate deaths or medical results into a crime against a doctor," the lawyer said. "Unexpected deaths can occur in severe, chronic pain patients, unrelated to medical treatment. This is especially true with patients who are drug addicts or drug abusers."

On May 24, 2010, Paul Dedrick Gray was found dead today by a hotel worker at a hotel in Urbandale hotel room in Iowa. Paul died from an accidental overdose of morphine and fentanyl, and had also shown signs of "significant heart disease".

SLIPKNOT Premiere Chaotic "Broadcast From Hell"; Shawn Crahan Talks About 'Antennas To Hell'!

Slipknot is like no other band the Rock scene has ever encountered and to celebrate two decades of game-changing existence, the band will release 'Antennas to Hell', a "best of" collection documenting its inimitable career, on July 24. The album is scheduled to be released via Roadrunner Records while the band is spending its summer as the main attraction of the 2012 edition of the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, as well as curating and headlining the inaugural year of  their very own festival, Knotfest. 'Antennas to Hell' will feature two bonus discs: a live CD of the band's 2009 Download Festival performance and a 10-part "Broadcast from Hell" video series created by Crahan. Nine of the clips highlight each band member, and the tenth, which you can watch exclusively here, documents them all together. "I took two songs and I grabbed elements, made a remix and I put it under the montage," Crahan explains. "The remix does not match up with the montage. It's supposed to be chaotic and fucking crazy ... I did not want to remix songs that are held as God to people. We hold those songs as sacred."

NEW SLIPKNOT "Greatest Hits" Album 'Antennas To Hell' - Full Details Available!

For their millions of fans around the world, Slipknot are as much a culture and a way of life as they are a band. To completely engage with all of the perseverance, ingenuity, artistic integrity and holistic vision of Slipknot's creative output in all of its forms, is to fully embrace every facet, and to find community in counterculture and true strength in survival.

Click here for all the details!

The time is right for a "best of" collection from the band, as it captures the first chapter of Slipknot – a chapter where they’ve gone from unknown to the one of the biggest Rock bands in the world -- all on their own terms.

This summer’s Mayhem and Knotfest outings celebrate the band and the life of late bassist Paul Gray, and will serve as ‘the end of the beginning’ for Slipknot – this summer’s performances will be the fan’s last chance to see them as they are now. Of course the band will continue- but just as inevitable with Slipknot, is the fact that the band will evolve - and the future is unwritten. 'Antennas to Hell' serves as a companion to that celebration. The two-disc version of 'Antennas to Hell' includes a bonus live CD that captures the band’s 2009 performance at the legendary Download Festival in the U.K. The live disc showcases the band playing a set of career spanning classics in front of 80,000 rabid fans. The journey from - “(sic)” - track 1 on their self-titled debut -  to “Snuff”  - the haunting No. 1 Rock track from 2008’s 'All Hope Is Gone' - proves that. The album features fan favorites, live classics and well-known radio hits.

Furthering the immersion in the band’s culture, this summer will see the release of the band’s first ever mobile application, "Wear the Mask". Part mask builder, part social connector for fans, and 100% Slipknot in its look and execution, the app brings the Slipknot mindset into previously uncharted territory –  the mobile devices of fans worldwide. "Wear the Mask" will be released simultaneously with 'Antennas to Hell'.

Take a look at the numbers. Globally, Slipknot have notched 11 Platinum albums and 38 Gold albums, as well as some multi-Platinum releases across albums and DVD releases. The band's most recent studio album, 'All Hope Is Gone', debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Top 200 chart. The band has won a Grammy, and has also been nominated seven times.

Slipknot -- vocalist Corey Taylor (8), guitarist Mick Thomson (7),  DJ Sid Wilson (0), percussionist Clown (6), late bassist Paul Gray (2), drummer Joey Jordison (1), percussionist Chris Fehn (3), guitarist Jim Root (4), sampler Craig Jones - 133 (5)-- came to embody all that it meant to be “heavy” both in terms of  melody and subject matter, as well as in their commitment to the purest of expression and to the ultimate empowerment and triumph of their audience. Founded in 1995, and immediately foresaw the inevitable domination of an artistic vehicle that would expand the boundaries of possibility within Metal and Hard Rock music, both onstage and off.

The band has spent over a decade slowly and methodically cementing their place as one of Rock’s most loved and hated acts. They’ve dominated their own headlining tours and festivals around the world while maintaining the fiercely loyal support of their following, both embracing and engaging their fans with their steady evolution. Slipknot continually challenge their fans with NEW ventures, greater challenges, and NEW and exciting music. To the surprise of many outside of the culture (but not to the band and its fans), Slipknot's most recent #1 song was a ballad – the haunting and riveting "Snuff". To not evolve is to die.

Today, Slipknot stand alongside institutions like Metallica and Iron Maiden, as one of a select few bands whose legacy is assured within the pantheon of elite Heavy Metal bands.

Slipknot march on, 15 years since the first incarnation came together. Personalities may collide but their collective drive continues to keep them bonded as brothers. "We're banded together in hate," says Jordison. "Sometimes we hate each other, sometimes we hate the world. Sometimes we just hate our own lives. But when we get together, something monstrous happens and we pull this amazing sound out of all that energy. Plus, we believe in world domination. And this is the band that’s going to get us there.”

Always imitated, never duplicated, there is only one Slipknot. And they're peerless.
