IRON MAIDEN Change "Trooper Beer" Label In Sweden Because Of The Skull & Crossbones Design?!

Recently, IRON MAIDEN launched the "Trooper Beer", the beer was developed by Bruce Dickinson who is a real ale enthusiast and as a result developed a beer which has true depth of character.

Independent U.K. brewer Robinsons (the brewers of the beer) have announced that they have been forced to change the label of the "Trooper Beer" because of the skull and crossbones design (the design above). Here is their official statement:

"Due to local Swedish government alcohol and marketing act which do not allow elements of war, weapons or aggression to be featured on alcoholic product, we were unable to sell 'Trooper beer' to our fans in Sweden unless we modified the label artwork.

"As our first and foremost priority is for our Swedish fans to be able to enjoy 'Trooper beer', we amended the label by simply focusing purely on [IRON MAIDEN mascot] Eddie's face and are now very pleased to advise that the NEW label, currently exclusive to Sweden, has now been approved (see the label below).

"Our distributor, Brands For Fans, advise that 'Trooper' premium British beer should be available in bottles in Sweden towards the end of June and delivered via orders at Systembolaget nationwide. Trooper will be also listed at restaurants and pubs all over Sweden.

"Meanwhile, 500 ml bottles with the original 'Trooper' label can be ordered directly from Robinsons U.K. via this web site."

Yesterday, Thursday, May 9, IRON MAIDEN launched the "Trooper Beer", the beer was developed by Bruce Dickinson who is a real ale enthusiast and as a result developed a beer which has true depth of character. Malt flavors and citric notes from a unique blend of Bobec, Goldings and Cascade hops dominate this deep golden ale with a subtle hint of lemon. Here is the official press release regarding the launch of the "Trooper Beer":

"Trooper beer was officially launched yesterday at Robinsons Brewery in Cheshire, with a reception attended by brewing trade representatives from both the UK and Internationally. As fans may have read recently, the unprecedented upfront demand for the beer meant Robinsons had to brew three times a day, six days a week for the first time ever in the Brewery’s 175 year history to cope with pre-orders in excess of 300,000 pints.. Robinsons were overwhelmed by the number of enquiries they’d had from all over the world and sent us a comprehensive listing of whereabouts the interest had been – from a staggering 184 countries! So, a big thanks to all our fans and it’s great to know the Maiden family extends into so many places where the band have never even had a chance to play before! Robinsons Managing Director Oliver Robinson then gave a short speech about how the Iron Maiden/Robinsons collaboration came about and he presented Bruce with a specially engraved Brewery hand pump, in recognition of Trooper being the Fastest Ever Selling New Robinsons Beer. Bruce then pulled the first-ever pint of Trooper from the cask in the Brewery bar amid loud applause from the assembled crowd!"

IRON MAIDEN: Did Nicko McBrain' Son Steal From His Own Family?

Wow! Justin McBrain (pictured above), the son of IRON MAIDEN drummer Nicko McBrain, will be facing a judge soon to defend himself against allegations that he robbed the items mentioned below at his parents' home in Palm Beach, Florida. The incident took place on April 26th.

According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, Mc Brain allegedly burglarized an occupied dwelling and 2nd degree petit theft. A PBSO spokesperson told BocaNewsNow.com that deputies responded to a West Boca home after receiving a call that McBrain forced his way inside. The female homeowner (Nick Mc Brain's wife) reported  that McBrain knocked repeatedly and then pushed his way in when the door was opened. McBrain allegedly rifled through the woman’s purse, taking the following items:

- A half-eaten chocolate bunny
- Half of an orange — which he consumed in the home —
- A belly ring
- Cosmetics
- Freezer pack

Justin is the second McBrain to get arrested within the last month. His mother Rebecca was charged by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office after she lost her cool and allegedly attempted to hurt a man. It it is unclear if that man was Nicko McBrain. More info on that case HERE!

IRON MAIDEN's pilot Bruce Dickinson recently spoke with Talarforum (a Swedish forum) about his legendary band and he mentioned that they have plans in entering the studio soon for a potential 2014 album.

"Iron Maiden fans do not need to feel that life is hopeless. In addition to the upcoming tour plans, the band plans on recording a new album, which, if all goes as planned, is scheduled for release in 2014."

IRON MAIDEN: Did Nicko McBrain Get Attacked By His Wife?

Wow! Rebecca McBrain (pictured above), the wife of IRON MAIDEN drummer Nicko McBrain, will be facing a judge on May 3rd to defend herself against allegations that she attempted to stab and hit a man with logs at their home in Palm Beach, Florida. The incident took place on February 24th. It is unclear if the man was Nicko McBrain!
 
According to Boca News Now, McBrain was arrested and charged with Domestic Battery after she allegedly — and unsuccessfully — tried to stab someone  in their home with a "decorative lance” on Woodset Way — just south of Palmetto Park Road, then threw logs at the man, causing minor injuries. She was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail and later released on bond. She has entered a plea of “not guilty".

Whither it was Nicko who she attacked or not, Rebecca needs to mellow out!

Biggest Concert Since The Big Four, To Arrive To Southern California This Summer!

As reported earlier today, IRON MAIDEN will be headlining "The Battle Of San Bernardino"! This very special event will take place on Friday, September 13, at the San Manuel Amphitheater in San Bernardino, CA. "The Battle Of San Bernardino" will feature very special appearances by Megadeth, Anthrax, Testament, Overkill and Sabaton. This will be a big, loud and exciting day out for Metal fans in Southern California.

USA: IRON MAIDEN Team Up With MEGADETH For A Very Special Mini Tour!

British Heavy Metal legends IRON MAIDEN will make a brief return to the USA this September, playing seven specially selected shows en-route to Latin America where they will once again headline at the legendary Rock In Rio Festival, Brazil, on September 22, their show there having recently sold out to 70,000 fans in just a couple of hours

These will begin with a first-ever visit to Raleigh, NC, for the opening show on September 3rd at the Time Warner Cable Music Pavilion followed by taking Metal back to country music capital Nashville, TN where Maiden haven’t played in over twenty years, at the Bridgestone Arena on September 5th. There will also be shows in Kansas City, MO, Sprint Center on September 7th, St Louis, MO, Verizon Wireless on September 8th and the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, NV on September 12th, all of which Maiden last visited way back in 2000 on the Brave New World Tour. Plus a return to Austin, TX for a show at the 360 Amphitheater on September 10th, the first time the band have played in that city since the original "Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son Tour" twenty-five years ago!

Very special guests on all these dates will be MEGADETH.

Before they finally head south towards Brazil, Maiden will also headline a very special event at the San Manuel Amphitheater, San Bernardino, CA. "The Battle Of San Bernardino" will take place on Friday 13th September. Anthrax, Testament, Overkill and Sabaton will join tour special guests Megadeth for this performance only, making for a big, loud and exciting day out for Metal fans in Southern California.

As we all know, IRON MAIDEN's Bruce Dickinson wears many hats and is one of the most multifaceted musicians in Heavy Music today. Not only is Bruce MAIDEN's singer and pilot, he is also a badass enterpreneur. He actually is to blame for all the extracurricular endeavors that the band is currently involved in.

Video Tribute To IRON MAIDEN's Clive Burr!

As previously reported HERE, former IRON MAIDEN drummer Clive Burr passed away this past Tuesday, March 12, after battling with Multiple Sclerosis (M.S.) for many years. He will now rock in peace up in the sky!

Former IRON MAIDEN Drummer Clive Burr Passes Away (RIP)

Major bummer! IRON MAIDEN have confirmed the death of their former drummer Clive Burr. Our condolences go out to his family, friends, fans, and everyone at the MAIDEN camp. A statement from MAIDEN follows:

"We are deeply saddened to report that Clive Burr passed away last night. He had suffered poor health for many years after being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and died peacefully in his sleep at home.

Steve Harris said “This is terribly sad news. Clive was a very old friend of all of us. He was a wonderful person and an amazing drummer who made a valuable contribution to Maiden in the early days when we were starting out. This is a sad day for everyone in the band and those around him and our thoughts and condolences are with his partner Mimi and family at this time."

Bruce Dickinson adds “I first met Clive when he was leaving Samson and joining Iron Maiden. He was a great guy and a man who really lived his life to the full. Even during the darkest days of his M.S., Clive never lost his sense of humour or irreverence. This is a terribly sad day and all our thoughts are with Mimi and the family”

As Maiden fans all know, Clive joined Maiden in 1979 and performed on the first three albums Iron Maiden (1980), Killers (1981) and The Number Of The Beast (1982).

Prior to that he was a member of Samson, the band Bruce fronted before he too joined Maiden."

"The Charge Of The Light Brigade", which inspired the Iron Maiden song "The Trooper", took place at the Battle Of Balaclava (1854) during the Crimean War when 6—British cavalry courageously charged the massed Russian artillery. This gallant but foolhardy assault resulted in a massive loss of life and came about due to a misunderstanding of an order given by the commanding officer, Lord Raglan.

IRON MAIDEN To Perform In The Czech Republic & In Croatia!

Last week, EMI announce the highly anticipated release of the Double Disc DVD "MAIDEN ENGLAND ‘88" on 25 March. This live show was filmed across two sold-out nights at Birmingham N.E.C Arena, UK in November 1988 during the band’s “Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son World Tour”.

But hey, IRON MAIDEN still have plenty of fire left and this is why they will play at Prague’s Synot Tip Arena in Czech Republic on July 29th and Zagreb Arena in Croatia on July 31st. Tickets are available now!

In other MAIDEN news, the band will return to Russia in 2013 with a show at Arena (Ice Palace), Saint-Petersburg on 16th July and a show at Moscow’s Olimpyski Stadium on 18th July. IRON MAIDEN's 'Maiden England 88' On DVD For The First Time Ever - Video Trailer Available!

EMI are proud to announce the highly anticipated release of the Double Disc DVD
"MAIDEN ENGLAND ‘88" on 25 March. Now available for the very first time on DVD, this live show was filmed across two sold-out nights at Birmingham N.E.C Arena, UK in November 1988 during the band’s “Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son World Tour”. Disc one contains the concert which has been specially upgraded and extended from the existing 1989 longform VHS release and now includes three previously unreleased encores: Running Free, Run To The Hills and Sanctuary thereby completing the full concert with a total running time of 110 minutes . Maiden’s own Film Producer and Director Andy Matthews went back to the 1988 edit and painstakingly remastered each shot digitally; colour correcting and grading to give the image the best possible look from that time. As well as the VHS stereo sound track by Martin Birch, the band’s producer between 1981 and 1993, the DVD also includes a brand new 5.1 audio surround mix by Maiden’s current producer Kevin Shirley. The concert was meticulously directed and edited by bass player and founder member Steve Harris, so as to capture the performance from a fans-eye view of the stage, focusing fully on the music, the elaborate stage production and the lighting. Add into the mix an electrifying set list and of course Eddie, and Maiden England now offers a snapshot of a bygone era in which the band, as they continue to do today, devote their all in delivering the ultimate live experience for their fans.


Disc two is an extensive bonus disc featuring an exclusive documentary charting Part 3 in the History of Iron Maiden. This 40-minute film comprises recent interviews with the five band members and manager, Rod Smallwood. Picking up the story in the aftermath of the ‘84/85 World Slavery tour, this interesting and insightful documentary sees the band speak candidly about their memories of an exciting and occasionally turbulent period from which would emerge the albums Somewhere In Time and Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son. As the Eighties began to draw to a close, so did another chapter in Maiden’s compelling history.


Other special extras on the bonus disc include Twelve Wasted Years. First released as a longform VHS in 1987 and available for the first time on DVD, this documentary runs for 90 minutes and includes archive interviews and dynamic live footage from the band’s beginnings in the now legendary Ruskin Arms pub, via London’s Marquee club and three World Tours. Five promo videos for the singles from the aforementioned albums are also featured and have been carefully restored and improved upon from the original films using the very latest software with the audio remastered in digital stereo.


Manager Rod Smallwood comments “We've been busy upgrading this concert footage for a long time, with our in-house Film Producer and Director Andy Matthews working tirelessly to weave his magic yet again!. The 1989 VHS video has been largely unavailable for many years and we know how eagerly our fans have been awaiting the new version so we wanted to give it the best possible treatment. The current Maiden England World Tour which continues later this year revisits much of the set list and production from the initial 1989 VHS release so it will be interesting to compare just how much has changed in terms of our 2013 live show production, especially with all the advances in modern technology and the improvements we've been able to make to the set”.


The Maiden England ‘88 concert soundtrack will also be made available on 2CD album, Limited Edition double vinyl picture disc and Digital Download formats. The audio had previously only ever been available before on CD as part of EMI’s 1994 Sound And Vision Series packaged alongside the VHS, but with two tracks fewer than the video contained. Can I Play With Madness and Hallowed Be Thy Name were not featured as there was no space on the 1CD disc. Now with the three encores also included the double disc offers a total of 5 tracks previously unavailable on CD making this the first full and complete audio recording release of this historic tour.

As previously reported, IRON MAIDEN will be headlining day 2 the 2013 edition of the Download Festival at Donington Park, England. This significant achievement is equally significant as 2013 is the 25th anniversary of MAIDEN first topping the bill there in 1988 when the festival was known as Monsters Of Rock attracting 107,000 fans, which is still the highest attendance ever at Donington. This was during their "Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son" tour, from which the current tour draws much of its inspiration for both set list and production as seen in the 1988 long form concert video "Maiden England", making this Download appearance even more unique!
