Recently CARCASS announced that their NEW album 'Surgical Steel', the bands first studio album in 17 years, is being mixed by Andy Sneap (MEGADETH, ACCEPT, EXODUS, ARCH ENEMY), after Colin Richardson (FEAR FACTORY, MACHINE HEAD, NAPALM DEATH, SLIPKNOT, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE) quit the project two weeks into the mixing process because he was "burned out".

Yesterday (March 26), CARCASS performed their first show with their NEW lineup in London, England. During the performance, the bands bassist Jeff Walker took over the microphone and claimed that Colin Richardson (pictured above) quit to mix the NEW TRIVIUM album! IRON MAIDEN's 'Maiden England 88' On DVD For The First Time Ever - Video Trailer Available!

EMI are proud to announce the highly anticipated release of the Double Disc DVD
"MAIDEN ENGLAND ‘88" on 25 March. Now available for the very first time on DVD, this live show was filmed across two sold-out nights at Birmingham N.E.C Arena, UK in November 1988 during the band’s “Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son World Tour”. Disc one contains the concert which has been specially upgraded and extended from the existing 1989 longform VHS release and now includes three previously unreleased encores: Running Free, Run To The Hills and Sanctuary thereby completing the full concert with a total running time of 110 minutes . Maiden’s own Film Producer and Director Andy Matthews went back to the 1988 edit and painstakingly remastered each shot digitally; colour correcting and grading to give the image the best possible look from that time. As well as the VHS stereo sound track by Martin Birch, the band’s producer between 1981 and 1993, the DVD also includes a brand new 5.1 audio surround mix by Maiden’s current producer Kevin Shirley. The concert was meticulously directed and edited by bass player and founder member Steve Harris, so as to capture the performance from a fans-eye view of the stage, focusing fully on the music, the elaborate stage production and the lighting. Add into the mix an electrifying set list and of course Eddie, and Maiden England now offers a snapshot of a bygone era in which the band, as they continue to do today, devote their all in delivering the ultimate live experience for their fans.

Disc two is an extensive bonus disc featuring an exclusive documentary charting Part 3 in the History of Iron Maiden. This 40-minute film comprises recent interviews with the five band members and manager, Rod Smallwood. Picking up the story in the aftermath of the ‘84/85 World Slavery tour, this interesting and insightful documentary sees the band speak candidly about their memories of an exciting and occasionally turbulent period from which would emerge the albums Somewhere In Time and Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son. As the Eighties began to draw to a close, so did another chapter in Maiden’s compelling history.

Other special extras on the bonus disc include Twelve Wasted Years. First released as a longform VHS in 1987 and available for the first time on DVD, this documentary runs for 90 minutes and includes archive interviews and dynamic live footage from the band’s beginnings in the now legendary Ruskin Arms pub, via London’s Marquee club and three World Tours. Five promo videos for the singles from the aforementioned albums are also featured and have been carefully restored and improved upon from the original films using the very latest software with the audio remastered in digital stereo.

Manager Rod Smallwood comments “We've been busy upgrading this concert footage for a long time, with our in-house Film Producer and Director Andy Matthews working tirelessly to weave his magic yet again!. The 1989 VHS video has been largely unavailable for many years and we know how eagerly our fans have been awaiting the new version so we wanted to give it the best possible treatment. The current Maiden England World Tour which continues later this year revisits much of the set list and production from the initial 1989 VHS release so it will be interesting to compare just how much has changed in terms of our 2013 live show production, especially with all the advances in modern technology and the improvements we've been able to make to the set”.

The Maiden England ‘88 concert soundtrack will also be made available on 2CD album, Limited Edition double vinyl picture disc and Digital Download formats. The audio had previously only ever been available before on CD as part of EMI’s 1994 Sound And Vision Series packaged alongside the VHS, but with two tracks fewer than the video contained. Can I Play With Madness and Hallowed Be Thy Name were not featured as there was no space on the 1CD disc. Now with the three encores also included the double disc offers a total of 5 tracks previously unavailable on CD making this the first full and complete audio recording release of this historic tour.

BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME's Bus Catches On Fire As They Celebrate The Release Of 'The Parallax II: Future Sequence' - Statement Available!

Between The Buried And Me's critically-lauded, 72-minute opus, 'The Parallax II: Future Sequence', is available today via Metal Blade Records! Order the album HERE!

In related news, Between The Buried And Me's bus caught fire this morning in England. There are no injuries and no equipment was damaged. There is no effect on the band's tour. Tour manager Courtney Warner adds: "As of now, we are at a service area awaiting transportation to a hotel. A NEW bus is on its way. We shouldn't miss any shows because of this. All gear, luggage, personal items and most importantly, people, are all good. We just stink like smoke."

Paul Waggoner elaborates: "Fuel line done broke. Dadgum flame come shootin out. Peeewwww eeehhhhh sometin' stank. Crazy British feller come hollerin, "Bus on fire, ya'll git." Climb up the ol' hill barefoot and look back at them flames shootin sky high. Firemen folk come rushin up real quick like and squirt that fire plum out. It was lucky nobody was hurt, not even a stubbed toe. Luggage stank like a Mississippi cow pie on a mid-July heat.

"Hopefull, come tomorra, a new horse n' buggy come. We'll giddy on up to Belgium town for a good ol' fashioned hootnanny.

Whoo-Doggies!!!"

We are VERY glad to hear that all band members are safe and sound!

The 12-track album was described by Tommy Rogers (vocals, keyboards) as: "A conceptual journey that takes the listener to worlds that seem familiar and worlds that make you scratch your head." The band's 2011 predecessor, The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues EP, laid the groundwork for the story behind the Parallax releases, Prospect I and Prospect II.

Loudwire described The Parallax II as "quintessentially brilliant," while awarding the release a perfect score. Alternative Press said the band "continue to dominate progressive metal" and are musically "expanding on every already-top-notch aspect." Outburn called the album "otherworldly," while Decibel added that BTBAM are "one of progressive metal's most singular, unique and genuinely progressive bands."

A number of aural and visual clips have been released leading up to the release with the most recent addition audio clips from the entire release, which can be found below. The band has also released a stunning, effects laden video for "Astral Body" HERE and a series of instructional videos (guitar, bass and drums) for "Telos" HERE.

IRON MAIDEN's Bruce Dickinson On The X-Factor: "I don't understand these kids auditioning for X-Factor claiming they 'Just Wanna Make Music'"!

You know that guy Bruce Dickinson from IRON MAIDEN? Here is what he had to say about kids who want to "make it" via music audition shows like the X-Factor, American Idol or The Voice. Read his strong message below:

As previously reported, IRON MAIDEN will be headlining day 2 the 2013 edition of the Download Festival at Donington Park, England. This significant achievement is equally significant as 2013 is the 25th anniversary of MAIDEN first topping the bill there in 1988 when the festival was known as Monsters Of Rock attracting 107,000 fans, which is still the highest attendance ever at Donington. This was during their "Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son" tour, from which the current tour draws much of its inspiration for both set list and production as seen in the 1988 long form concert video "Maiden England", making this Download appearance even more unique!

METAL HAMMER's Podcast To Be Filmed Live In London, England!

Be afraid. Be very afraid. And excited. But moreso afraid. For the first time in history and owing to huge demand (AKA a few family members and some guy called Ceril on Twitter), the Metal Hammer Podcast is going to be filmed in front of a live studio audience at the Leicester Square Theatre in London, on Friday November 23 from at 9 PM.

Merl, Hill and Amit will all be there live and in the flesh, chatting through some of this year’s biggest Metal news stories, picking needless arguments and pitching questions from those in attendance.

These wallies are going to be on a stage in Leciester Square. Think about that.

“It’s going to be massive. Fucking massive,” said Merl in a statement. “I agree, fucking massive,” added Hill. “I also agree that ‘fucking massive’ is how I would describe what this is going to be,” mooted Amit.

Expect music chat, Axl Rose-bashing, Iron Maiden-loving, News Up Your Ass-ing, High Fiving, Reviews, reviews, reviews… reviewing, utter stupidity and maybe, just maybe, some very special guests. Trust, this is going to be massive.

Tickets are a measly £6, so get booking below to grab your chance to become a part of Podcast history. Be excited. NOW.

IRON MAIDEN To Headline The 2013 Download Festival - Statement By Bruce Dickinson Available!

Wow! This just in: IRON MAIDEN will be headlining the 2013 edition of the Download Festival at Donington Park, England.

“We’re absolutely over the moon to be headlining Donington again,” says Iron Maiden frontman, pilot and professional legend Bruce Dickinson. “The idea of returning exactly 25 years later with a show inspired by that same 1988 Seventh Son Tour, was too good an opportunity to be missed! And, thanks to modern technology, we’ve been able to update and improve on the original production.”

Maiden took the Maiden England tour to the U.S. earlier this year!

“We will be bringing a huge NEW light show, stage set, various incarnations of Eddie, plenty of pyro and all kinds of other exciting stuff for the fans. And of course treating the fans to lots of their favorite songs from that period! We’ve had many great times at Donington and there is always a wonderful mix of bands and a really wild crowd who love their Metal, all of which makes for a memorable show and fantastic party atmosphere!”

“I am delighted to see the return of Iron Maiden to Download next year to mark the 25th anniversary of their first playing at Donington,” adds Live Nation’s Andy Copping. “They are without doubt one of the biggest bands in the world and their live shows are legendary. I caught them in Los Angeles and the audience reaction to the stunning stage production and incredible set-list was just phenomenal to witness. After watching rare performances of songs like 'Afraid To Shoot Strangers', 'The Prisoner' and 'Seventh Son', alongside classics like 'The Number Of The Beast', 'Aces High', 'The Trooper' and 'Fear of the Dark', I can’t wait to see this show again at Download 2013. It is sure to be something really special.”

Hellfire!

Tony Iommi Performs With BLACK SABBATH For The First Time Since He Was Diagnosed With Cancer - Live Footage Available!

Last night (Saturday, May 19) BLACK SABBATH performed an intimate hometown concert at the O2 Academy in Birmingham, England. The 3,800 capacity venue served as a warm-up show in anticipation of the band's appearance at the Download Festival at Donington next month. While there has been a lot of controversy around the "reunion" of BLACK SABBATH, it was great to see Tony Iommi back on stage.

BLACK SABBATH's setlist for the show was as follows:

01. Into The Void
02. Under The Sun
03. Snowblind
04. War Pigs
05. Wheels Of Confusion
06. Electric Funeral
07. Black Sabbath
08. The Wizard
09. Behind The Wall Of Sleep
10. N.I.B.
11. Fairies Wear Boots
12. Tomorrow's Dream
13. Sweet Leaf
14. Symptom Of The Universe (intro only)
15. Drum Solo
16. Iron Man
17. Dirty Women
18. Children Of The Grave

Encore:

19. Sabbath Bloody Sabbath (intro only)
20. Paranoid

Fan-filmed video footage is available below.

BLACK SABBATH's first hometown performance in 13 years — and their first concert since 2005 — featured three-quarters of the legendary Heavy Metal act's original lineup — guitarist Tony Iommi, singer Ozzy Osbourne and bassist Geezer Butler. Tommy Clufetos, a member of Ozzy's solo band, is filling in for original SABBATH drummer Bill Ward, who is sitting out the group's reunion shows due to a contractual dispute with his bandmates.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you Birmingham. Best fans ever — you brought out the best in us", commented Geezer Butler. "It was a privilege playing for you tonight. Tony [Iommi, SABBATH guitarist] was a hero — you were the best medicine he has had. Proud to be a Brummie."

According to Black-Sabbath.com, last night's concert was professionally recorded and filmed.
