SUFFOCATION Announce Temporary Replacement For Vocalist Frank Mullen!

As reported by us first, Frank Mullen will not be able to commit to all the touring plans that SUFFOCATION has for 2013. During the interview we conducted with him below, he stated that the band would recruit different singers to fill in for him.

Pat Egan (RIP) Tribute Compilation Released Via Relapse Records!

Pat Egan, longtime Director of Retail Sales at Relapse Records, tragically passed away on Monday February 18th after a battle with pneumonia and related complications. In honor of the man who was so instrumental in the success of so many Relapse bands and records, the label has put together a 20 track compilation featuring a collection of his favorite songs and artists, including Mastodon, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Brian Posehn, Red Fang, Death, and many more, including a never-before-released track from Exhumed. 

100% of proceeds from the compilation will go towards a college fund for his young daughter Katie. Relapse thanks each band for contributing each track and waiving their royalty fee to maximize the benefit for Pat’s beloved family. The compilation is available via Bandcamp at this location for only $5 but friends and fans are welcome to donate as much as they want. EXHUMED Announce February Live Attacks!

California gore lords EXHUMED will return to the road this February alongside grind behemoths Phobia! The short West Coast beat down will commence February 15 in Lancaster, California and conclude February 23 in San Francisco. Souls will be severed; dreams will die.

The latest stretch of dates follows EXHUMED’s maniacal run with Napalm Death and Municipal Waste at the end of the year which was met with a host of hurdles including being denied entry into Canada and vehicular failure that left them temporarily stranded in Alabama. 

Comments vocalist/guitarist Matt Harvey: “As happy as we were to get home for the holidays, we thought we should make time to hang out with our old friends in Phobia and grind through our home state of California. We had so much fun playing out-of-the-way places during the impromptu one-off dates we did during the Napalm Death/Municipal Waste tour, we thought we would hit some nooks and crannies back home that we haven't played in years. Plus, we'll get a chance to get a bunch of our buddies' bands on the bill like POOR, Gravehill, DIS and Mortuous. We've been itching to play some stuff from the new album live and we're working out a seriously revamped setlist for this one, so come on out California! Let's have a few beers, let it loose, and get weird!

MUNICIPAL WASTE Discuss 'The Fatal Feast', Touring With NAPALM DEATH & Rise To Success!

MUNICIPAL WASTE have made it clear that as long as they are around crushing ear drums, Heavy Music will remain dangerous and very exciting. While at the beginning of their careers the band were famous for being THE "party band", they have matured as musicians while keeping their energy and party attitude intact. EXHUMED's New Album IS DONE; Tour With Napalm Death And Municipal Waste Starts Today!

West Coast death gore hooligans, EXHUMED, recently completed recording the follow-up to 2011’s 'All Guts, No Glory' full-length. The as-yet-untitled long player was recorded at Arcane Digital Recording in Chandler, Arizona with Ryan Butler (Misery Index, Landmine Marathon, Phobia). All drums were tracked at Trench Studios in Corona, California with John Haddad (Hirax, Abysmal Dawn, Intronaut). The unholy offering will be unleashed by Relapse Records sometime next year.

In the interim, the West Coast road burners, who recently returned from a short run of Japanese dates with Death Metal legends Cannibal Corpse, will embark upon a five-week North American Tour with Napalm Death and Municipal Waste. See all confirmed dates below.

EXHUMED 2012 features the smoldering lineup of vocalist/guitarist Matt Harvey alongside bassist Rob “Body Bag” Babcock, drummer Mike Hamilton and guitarist/vocalist Bud Burke, who played bass with the band from 1999 – 2004 and recently rejoined the legion for their live rituals on this year’s Summer Slaughter Tour.

EXHUMED Are Coming To Japan With CANNIBAL CORPSE - Full Itinerary Available!

Relentless road demons, EXHUMED, will add to their expanding agenda of  live takeovers with a string of Japanese tour dates alongside Death Metal pioneers CANNIBAL CORPSE! The shows kick off on October 15th in Tokyo and will serve as a warm up to the band’s recently announced five-week North American Tour with Napalm Death and Municipal Waste with additional support from Vektor, Dayglo Abortions, Attitude Adjustment, Speedwolf, Martha Splatterhead’s Revenge, Repulsion and Dwarves on select dates.

Notes frontman Matt Harvey: "We are totally psyched to head back to the land of the rising sun! Japan has always been one of our favorite places to play --  the kids are amazing, the food is great, and the giant robots are just a delight! To go there with our friends in Cannibal is even cooler, and we are pumped to make sure this will be a Death Metal spectacle of epic proportions. It's been quite a while since we've been there so it will rule to trot out some new tunes in between sake bombs and bar hopping in Roppongi."

Additionally, the band plan to enter the studio at the end of the year to begin recording their sixth full-length and follow-up to 'All Guts, No Glory'. Jonathan Carpenter From THE CONTORTIONIST Talks About "Summer Slaughter" & Bands NEW Album!

Recently, the tri-state area Headbangers joined forces at New York City's legendary venue Irving Plaza (formerly The Fillmore) for the 2012 Summer Slaughter Tour. This years event is co-headlined by the mighty CANNIBAL CORPSE and Progressive Metallers BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME. Two bands that have a very different sound, but that have managed to open the minds of each others fans by penetrating ear drums like very few bands out there. The 2012 SUMMER SLAUGHTER tour truly represents what the state of Heavy Music is today: many different types of fans coming together to jam out to their favorite bands while learning about new bands and tendencies.

Following THE CONTORTIONIST's early set, in which they performed a bunch of NEW songs from their latest album 'Intrinsic' (available now via EOne Music), we had the chance to chat with the bands frontman Jonathan Carpenter about the 2012 SUMMER SLAUGHTER tour and about the bands NEW album. Following EXHUMED's early set, in which they performed a bunch of NEW songs from their latest album 'All Guts All Glory' (available now via Relapse Records), we had the chance to chat with EXHUMED's own Matt Harvey and Rob Babcock at Idle Hands Bar about the 2012 SUMMER SLAUGHTER tour, how playing early during the day allows them more time at the bar and they even talk about how Progressive Metal bands are too predictable! Tomorrow night, American Death Metal legends CANNIBAL CORPSE will kick off their headlining spot on this year's Summer Slaughter tour at the House Of Blues in Los Angeles (now SOLD OUT)! The band will be joined by label mates Between The Buried and Me, Job For A Cowboy and Goatwhore as well as The Faceless, Periphery, Veil of Maya, and Cerebral Bore. In honor of the tour kick off, Metal Injection will be hosting a pre-game Summer Slaughter podcast which will allow fans to chat LIVE with the bands. "DEATH To All Tour" Hits California & Welcomes Matt Harvey From EXHUMED - Video Available!

EXHUMED frontman Matt Harvey has been added as a special guest lead vocalist to the all-star studded "Death To All Tour 2012". After a few show cancellations due to low ticket sales, this past Friday (June 22) the legacy of Chuck Schuldiner was remembered as Matt Harvey was joined  by drummers Gene Hoglan (Individual Thought Patterns/Symbolic) and Sean Reinert (Human), bassists Steve DiGiorgio (Human/Individual Thought Patterns) and Scott Clendenin (The Sound of Perseverance), guitarists Paul Masvidal (Human), Shannon Hamm (The Sound of Perseverance) and Bobby Koelble (Symbolic), and vocalist/label-mate Charles Elliott of Abysmal Dawn/Bereft, to celebrate DEATH! The event took place at the Regency Ballroom in San Francisco, California.

The following night (Saturday, June 23) the trek arrived at the House Of Blues in West Hollywood, California. This once in a lifetime tour, which features a majority of DEATH's amazing musicians, celebrates the life and music of Chuck Schuldiner, as well as raises awareness of Sweet Relief Musicians Fund — a charity that provides financial assistance to career musicians faced with illness, disability or age-related problems.

Matt Harvey from EXHUMED replaced Obscura vocalist Steffen Kummerer due to visa issues and had only 9 days to learn his entire set. Matt Harvey elaborates on the opportunity: “To say that I'm excited about hitting the stage with such amazing musicians would be a massive understatement. To say that I'm overwhelmed standing in Chuck's spot singing his songs would be the understatement of the century. Phrases like ‘it’s an honor’ get tossed around pretty casually, but taking part in this unique celebration is truly exhilarating, humbling and magical for me. Even though the name of the band is Death, this event is a celebration of Chuck's life and the vitality and staying power of his work. To be able to share what Death's music has meant to me this way is a truly once-in-a-lifetime opportunity I am incredibly grateful to have.”

Additionally, the concert organizers commented on Matt’s involvement: "The guys in the band, as well as the organizers and crew, want you to know Matt has been killing it! We are all very thankful for his efforts and talent, being able to pull this off on such short notice."

Death To All 2012 is presented by Sick Drummer Magazine/Grind Percussion LLC and Perseverance Holdings Ltd – In benefit of Sweet Relief (sweetrelief.org). This five-city tour will feature a majority of Death’s amazing musicians, as well as special guests. This tour is to celebrate the life and music of Chuck Schuldiner, as well as to raise awareness of Sweet Relief Musicians Fund – a charity that provides financial assistance to career musicians faced with illness, disability or age-related problems
