SEPULTURA Documentary "Teaser" Featuring Philip Anselmo & Scott Ian!

As previously reported, SEPULTURA are calling all the members of the tribe, in order to help them out with the production of the official SEPS documentary. Here is a word from the band:

"We are starting Kickstarter at $100,000,00 just to cover some of the production trips, crew, equipment, rights, image releases, taxes, among others, but our ULTIMATE goal is to raise about $1,000,000.00 to cover the remainder of the production. Anticipated outlays include travel expenses for interviews with former band members and music biz luminaries, as well as all the post production costs, including killer graphics and global distribution to the broadest possible extent."

The band has just posted a teaser featuring Philip Anselmo (PANTERA, DOWN) and Scott Ian (ANTHRAX):

As previously reported, Andreas Kisser (Sepultura) has joined forces with Alex Gonzalez (Maná), Andres Gimenez (A.N.I.M.A.L. & D-Mente), and Sr. Flavio (Fabulosos Cadillacs), in a NEW super group called DE LA TIERRA (from the land in Spanish)!

The four men have been busy recording tracks for their debut album, and we have video showcasing the recording sessions, which should be completed within the next few days!

Max Cavalera Will Not Be Part Of NEW SEPULTURA Documentary & Might Have To Take Legal Action!

As announced yesterday HERE, SEPULTURA are calling all the members of the tribe, in order to help them out with the production of the "official" SEPS documentary via Kickstarter.

Right after we heard about this, our first question was whither or not the co-founders of the band (Max and Iggor Cavalera) would be included on this documentary. Max's wife Gloria Bujnowski, who managed SEPULTURA all the way until Max left the band in 1996, posted the following message regarding the above mentioned documentary. She also made it very clear that Max does not use Facebook and that all accounts that claim to be Max are fake.

"Just to remind you, Max has no FB page, so please do not friend the numerous people pretending to be him. Also, Max is NOT involved in the "official" documentary being made, even though they are using his image without Max's permission. Don't be fooled!! Funny they are using a song Max wrote, for the add, instead of a song they wrote.... Max's book, out this fall, will give the true story of his life! Have a killer Tuesday and Thank you!!"

 

In our humble opinion if the current members of SEPULTURA want to add production value to their documentary, they should patch things up with the Cavalera's and include them in the documentary. Otherwise, they are cutting out the roots of the band out.

"The long awaited documentary about SEPULTURA’s incredible journey from Brazil to the world. Filmmaker Otavio Juliano has been following SEPULTURA for the better part of 2010-2013, a time of tension and triumph for the band, as they toured and recorded their album 'Kairos'. Nothing has been off-limits. This amazing story will go through SEPULTURA’s history, myths, conflicts, personnel changes and struggles with the Internet economy in the early 2000s as well interviews and rare footage. This documentary is certain to bring fans closer to the band they love. 

"About 50% of the film has been shot so far. We have witnessed this historic band experiencing wrenching transformations and unprecedented growth. We opened SEPULTURA's vault and dig into the best rare and unseen footage of the last 30 years. We will see them at their most vulnerable and human, and also as idols of the heavy metal genre. Those elements make the overall film an uncommonly powerful statement.

SEPULTURA Return To The Primitive, Find Out Who Is Producing Their NEW Album!

It has been confirmed that SEPULTURA have hired Ross Robinson to produce their 13th studio album, the follow up to 2011's 'Kairos'. This will be the first time the band works with Robinson since 1996, which is when the bands legendary album 'Roots' was produced by Robinson.

This reunion was suggested by Monte Conner (the guy who signed SEPULTURA), who used to be the Roadrunner Records A&R chief and is now the head of Nuclear Blast Entertainment, a U.S. partnership with Nuclear Blast owner Markus Staiger.

"Monte was the guy who signed SEPULTURA to Roadrunner in 1988," SEPULTURA guitarist Andreas Kisser told Diario de Pernambuco. "It's been a nice experience working with him again. He always brought a good energy to the band. It will be very good to record in a studio that Ross and Steve know so well," Andreas said. This will mark the first time that the band records an album outside Brazil since 'Against'.

SEPULTURA currently has 13 NEW songs in various stages of completion.

"We are in the process of writing and we have already stared working on some of the lyrics. I am also working on guitar solos and other ideas," Andreas explained.

Asked what fans can fans expect from the upcoming SEPULTURA album, Andreas said: "I don't know; it's hard to say. This is the first time writing with [latest SEPULTURA addition] Eloy Casagrande on drums and everything sounds fresh. You'll just have to wait to hear it. It's very difficult to describe what we're doing, but I can say that will be one of the strongest SEPULTURA albums to date. It will be definitely one of the best albums in the history of SEPULTURA."

SEPULTURA Unleash The "SEPUL-BEER" In Celebration Of Their 25th Anniversary - Check The Badass Packaging Out!

Recently, Brazilian Heavy Metal legends SEPULTURA unleashed their very own "SEPUL-BEER" in celebration of their 25th anniversary as an active Heavy Metal band! The band celebrated their 25th anniversary in 2009 with the release of 'A-Lex'.

The drink is said to have "a turbidity caused by natural yeast in suspension" and "aroma and flavors of banana and clove from a special strain of yeast that produces the chemicals that lead to these perceptions."

With this move, SEPULTURA join Slayer, Mötorhead, Mastodon and Clutch, who also have their own beers! Cheers to the SEPUL-TRIBE and remember to always drink responsibly!

SEPULTURA Writes Song For Scooby-Doo & The Producers Change The Vocals!

Current SEPULTURA vocalist Derrick Green joined forces with the bands former drummer Jean Dolabella to compose a song for the closing credits for an episode of the high profile animated series "Scooby-Doo". The song is called "Mysteris. Inc.!" The song was written by Dolabella and Doug Landale, and was recorded at Garage Studios in São Paulo, Brazil.

This is what Green had to say about the song: "What really stinks is that they used the same song but changed the vocals to have the original voice of one of the characters of the series and it sucks!!! Just saying."

SEPULTURA: Long European Trek (40 Tour Dates) Announced!

With the prestige of having their most recent work "KAIROS" on the list of best albums of 2011 by the worldwide Metal media, Sepultura continues with a long series of concerts throughout Europe.

Derrick Green (vocals), Andreas Kisser (guitars), Paulo Xisto (bass) and Eloy Casagrande (drums) kickstarted the tour with an amazing show at Rock in Rio-Lisboa alongside French percussion group Tambours du Bronx, recently performed at Sweden Rock Festival and are confirmed to play Wacken Open Air, considered the most important Heavy Metal event in the world, with a very tight stage act.

So far, the tour has over 40 dates confirmed. The run started on the last July 25th in Portugal and went through Greece, Sweden, France, Czech Republic, Switzerland and now moves on to Italy, France, Spain, Belgium, Austria, Romenia, Hungary, UK and ends on August 18th in Germany. It is worth mentioning that the band will take a quick break to play ORION MUSIC + MORE festival, event promoted by Metallica, which happens on July 24th in Atlantic City (USA). Recently, SEPULTURA wrapped up the "North American Kairos Tour" at the Gramercy Theatre in New York City. Joining the Kings of Tribal Metal were fellow Brazilian Metallers KRISIUN, as well as the legendary Thrash Metal band DEATH ANGEL. Opening every night of the "Kairos Tour" were new comers HAVOK.

Prior to the show we had the chance to chat with SEPULTURA's legendary guitarist Andreas Kisser. During part two of the conversation, we had the chance to talk to Andreas about the demise of Roadrunner Records, the bands plans for the rest of 2012, stepping in for Scott Ian (ANTHRAX) at last years Big Four show, and the possibility of having the Cavalera brothers (Max and Iggor) back in SEPULTURA one day! SEPULTURA Single-handily Changed Heavy Music With 'Arise' & Are Still A Force To Be Reckoned With! Images From The "Kairos Tour" Available!

When SEPULTURA released their groundbreaking record 'Arise' on March 20, 1991, the face of Heavy Music was changed forever! "When this album was released it became the biggest seller in Roadrunner history and firmly established both the band and Roadrunner Records", commented Monte Conner (Senior Vice President of A&R for Roadrunner Records). " It is still hands down a Speed/Thrash Metal record but you can hear the beginnings of the modern Sepultura sound that would fully bloom on 'Chaos A.D.' in Max’s more enunciated vocal delivery and his NEW less-is-more lyrical approach (due undoubtedly to his improvements in speaking English). Here, Max is really starting to shine as a powerful Metal singer and band leader. I still think the lobster claws on the cover are cheesy but the fans love that art and it has become an iconic piece. This was the first time that Max worked with Andy Wallace and it was a collaboration that would continue through Soulfly’s 'Primitive' in 1998."

Sepultura Announces Line-up Change As They Prepare For A European Tour!

Brazil’s triumphant Heavy Metal export, Sepultura, has announced the addition of drummer, Eloy Casagrande, to its arsenal of world-class musicians, replacing Jean Dolabella as the band’s full-time percussionist.

The 20-year-old drum prodigy from Sao Paulo, Brazil, who won the Modern Drummer Undiscovered Drummer Contest as a teenager in 2006, is more than eager to begin his career with the veteran Metal icon.

“When I got the invitation to join Sepultura, I was in shock,” said Casagrande. “I'm a fan of the band for years; it'll be an honor to play with them.”

Commented guitarist, Andreas Kisser, “I'm sure Eloy will do a great job with Sepultura. He's already a musician who shows a lot of strength and technique, although he's young. We did a rehearsal with him and it was fantastic; he played the old and new material as if he was in the band for a long time. Sepultura will show the world another Brazilian talent on the drums.”

Dolabella, who leaves Sepultura after a five-year run of relentless touring and two studio albums, will depart to focus on personal projects. “The period we spent with Jean in the band was very positive,” added Kisser. “We’ve recorded two great albums together and did a lot of concerts which will be in Sepultura's history. We only have reasons to thank him for his contribution and energy all these years.”

Sepultura is currently home in Brazil preparing for a European run with Exodus and Destruction, which will kick off later this month. The band is touring in support of its 12th studio album, and Nuclear Blast Records debut, "Kairos", which hit stores in July.

Andreas Kisser to replace Scott Ian temporarily

It was announced today that Scott Ian from Anthrax will be missing 11 upcoming tour dates (from July 2 to July 16) during Anthrax's European and U.K. tours this summer. During this time, Ian will be replaced by Andreas Kisser from Sepultura. The reason? Scott and his wife Pearl are expecting their first child. Congratulations!

Here is the OFFICIAL statement from Scott Ian:

Hello my friends, how are you all? I hope you’re all kicking ass.

I know there’s been a lot of rhetoric out there regarding upcoming Anthrax shows, Big Four and otherwise.

I’ve been debating on whether or not to make a public statement about this, as it really pertains to my personal life and I generally like to keep that personal. Because this is affecting my band life, I feel like you, my friends, deserve to hear from me personally.

I will be playing the Big Four show on April 23 in Indio, Calif., as well as the shows in Manila, Bangkok and Japan that will follow the Indio show.

I won’t be playing the shows scheduled from July 2-16 in Europe and the U.K. My wife, Pearl, and I are expecting our first child, and she is due literally the day of the Big Four Sonisphere show in France.

This decision to miss these shows was a deeply personal one. I co-founded this band on July 18, 1981, and for almost 30 years I have been there for everything we’ve ever done. I have never been faced with anything that would make me even question being there for anything Anthrax-related. Becoming a father is the biggest, best thing that’s ever happened to me, and it made the decision relatively easy. My priority is with my wife and the birth of our first child.

As soon as I was faced with this decision, I knew, as Freddie Mercury so eloquently said, “The show must go on.”

I started thinking about guitar players I knew; guys that I am a fan of; guys that I respect; guys that headbang like Angus was watching them; guys that I listen to and who I thought had the spirit to enable the show to go on.

This wasn’t a hard decision at all. I asked the rest of the band what they thought, and we were on the same page.

We chose Andreas because we feel he can do the gig better than anyone. He has the fire, the attitude and the crushing right hand to do the gig. I’ve played with Andreas at the Roadrunner 25th anniversary show, and I’ve gotten up and played with Sepultura, and we are kindred spirits. We both play every show like we’re going to jail the next day; like it’s the last show we’ll ever play. He has what it takes and he has the experience and history to fucking bring it and make these Anthrax shows something special. I can’t wait to see and hear it for myself!

This year will bring our tenth Anthrax studio record, featuring the return of the one-and-only Joey Belladonna. We’re hard at work finishing it and I can say that from the tracks I have heard, it is going to tear your fucking heads off. I’m looking forward to getting back on the road with the band that is now better than we’ve ever been, and to seeing all your sick faces and banging heads.
