Another chapter of Heavy Metal history will be written in 2013…

When the BEASTIVAL festival will open its hellish gates from May 30 to June 1 in Geiselwind, Germany, every fan should be aware this is going to be a historical event. BEASTIVAL managed to accomplish something unique: THE BIG TEUTONIC 4! KREATOR, SODOM, DESTRUCTION & TANKARD on one evening, on one stage – something that has never happened despite the plus 25 year-career of every single band involved!

When the Thrash Metal scene started to rise in the early 80s in Germany and the USA, nobody expected this underground scene would turn into one of the biggest movements in Heavy Metal. Sure, Metal acts such as Iron Maiden and Judas Priest were filling the biggest venues back then, but this was something NEW, something that would leave its mark on Heavy Metal to this very day: Thrash Metal! This style combined the energy and pace of Hardcore Punk with the techniques of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal and built a fresh fan base. The scene was growing and growing… record labels were founded, underground clubs popped up and fanzines were being published. Around this time, KREATOR, SODOM, DESTRUCTION & TANKARD emerged – who are nowadays being referred to as “The Big Teutonic 4”. Four German bands who are being hailed as the crown princes of Thrash Metal worldwide and who have influenced countless successors and later Metal genres with their albums and tours!

Without these bands, the Metal scene as we know it today would not exist!

So the time has come for the BEASTIVAL 2013, and these four bands will join forces on stage for the first time ever! An event that will warm the hearts of generations of Metal fans!

Finnish epic Metallers WINTERSUN have released a lyric video for the track "Time". The song comes off their NEW album 'Time I', which was released recently via Nuclear Blast. Watch the video here:



WINTERSUN recently scanned 3,870 copies of their NEW album 'Time I' in its first week of sales in the United States according to Nielsen SoundScan. The album debuted at No. 109 on the US Billboard Top 200 chart, making it their highest first week sales yet! Time I was released on October 22, 2012 in North America via Nuclear Blast.

Don't forget that WINTERSUN will co-headline a North American tour this Winter with Swiss new wave of folk Metal pioneers ELUVEITIE! As previously reported, ELUVEITIE has announced that they have parted ways with guitarist Simeon Koch after eight years.

Commented the band in a collective statement: "Sime was thinking about this since quite a long time already and finally decided to take this step. He will set about some new goals in his life — both vocational and familial — which will make it impossible for him to play in a touring band.

"We'd like to make you aware of two special shows: Sime will share the stage with us as special guest on the 20th of September in the Kofmehl (Solothurn, CH) and on the 29th of December in the Eulachhalle (Eluveitie & Friends festival, Winterthur, CH)! Don't miss it!

"At the same time it's about time to introduce you to the man who will follow in Sime's footsteps! His name is Rafael Salzmann [pictured below] and he will play the upcoming tours with us as a live session guitarist.

This just in: ELUVEITIE has announced that they have parted ways with guitarist Simeon Koch after eight years.

Commented the band in a collective statement: "Sime was thinking about this since quite a long time already and finally decided to take this step. He will set about some new goals in his life — both vocational and familial — which will make it impossible for him to play in a touring band.

"Sime was part of ELUVEITIE for right years now, part of our little, crazy family — and we will dearly miss him. But at the same time we're thankful for the awesome time we spent together. We wish him and his family all the best for his personal and vocational future!

"We'd like to make you aware of two special shows: Sime will share the stage with us as special guest on the 20th of September in the Kofmehl (Solothurn, CH) and on the 29th of December in the Eulachhalle (Eluveitie & Friends festival, Winterthur, CH)! Don't miss it!

"At the same time it's about time to introduce you to the man who will follow in Sime's footsteps! His name is Rafael Salzmann [pictured above right] and he will play the upcoming tours with us as a live session guitarist.

"Rafael is a gifted musician and very skilled guitar player and he also already has been working together with Anna in the Soundfarm Studios. Now we're looking forward a lot to rock the stages together with him!

"On a related note, Päde [Kistler, flutes] will have to take a short leave for personal reasons as well and will rejoin our tour with SABATON in the beginning of October. In the meantime, there's still seven of us left to kick some ass all over Europe!"

Added Simeon Koch: "A couple of months ago, I informed my bandmates that I'll leave ELUVEITIE in September 2012 for familial reasons. It was a very tough call, it was difficult to make this decision — in a way the band is part of the family too, after all. I will dearly miss ELUVEITIE. But, fortunately, the world (or rather Switzerland) is small: I will still play the upcoming shows in Solothurn's Kofmehl and the Eluveitie & Friends festival with full commitment! I wish the band all the best and accident-free upcoming tours!"
